I remember the first time that I got into fragrances. The dance between your body and the musical composition of the top, middle and base notes in a bottle. Whenever I got ready for school in my early teens, my mum would always be leaving the house on her way to work. Before leaving her room, she was either adorning herself in Mugler or Issey Miyake perfumes. Once I knew that she had definitely left, I would sneak into her room and adorn myself in Mugler perfume. At that age, I felt like a little bit more confident on my way to school because I was wearing grown woman perfume.
Buying Fragrances Is Part Of My Travels
Now that I’m at the tender age of 31, I believe that having that small introduction helped me connect experiences with scents. They often give me the opportunity to reminisce a pocket of time or a moment in my life. I didn’t start building my collection until I started travelling more frequently at the end of 2019. As I live in Switzerland, most international flights consist of layovers. Luckily, I would have a couple of hours to explore duty free. Naturally, I gravitated more to the perfumes section and I wanted to make my travels more memorable. This led me to do a scent of the trip.
I have a small collection with a variety of scents. Out of the collection that I have, there are only 3 fragrances that make me feel irresistible every time that I adorn myself in them. In addition, they continuously turn heads in any room that I walk in. Let me introduce you to those fragrances.

Versace Noir
I bought this fragrance on my trip to Lisbon in 2022 and it’s a perfect summertime scent to wear. Whether you are strolling along cobblestone streets, lounging by the poolside or getting ready to go out to lunch, this is a scent that you must have in your collection. Can you wear this in the winter? Absolutely! I would recommend wearing this in the evenings during autumn and winter.
Versace Crystal Noir is a rare warm and woody perfume that is both fresh and light in summer. During autumn and winter, it conveys this aura of sophistication and elegance that embodies adventure. At the heart of this fragrance is sandalwood, coconut, vanilla and amber. Despite not being a floral scent and print person, this has a hint of floral that I can tolerate. It successfully manages to intertwine some light floral scents with the wood scent which makes it thrilling to wear.
Price Range of These Fragrances
The price range of these fragrances are affordable. Since I buy the majority of my fragrances in duty free, I spend a couple of hours testing before I chose one. Whenever I buy perfumes, I always buy the eau de parfum version as it is the most concentrated and the ingredients quality matters to me. In my opinion, fragrances are an investment. A lot of stores do have samples, so take advantage of that before deciding to invest in a bottle.
Carolina Herrera Good Girl Supreme
I bought this fragrance on my trip to Ibiza in 2021 and it was the first perfume to start my collection. This one opened the door to woodsy scents that exudes dark energy and confident woman vibes. I prefer to wear it more at night than during the day as it gives off this alluring, provocative and seductive aura, while being soft and classy at the same time.
Good Girl Supreme has a unique scent that plays a tune with variety of accords such as white floral, berries, wood, spice and earth. This makes the fragrance itself irresistible and intense. Imagine wearing this fragrance with an outfit that matches this tune all the way down to the accessories, heads will be turning.
Givenchy L’Interdit Intense
This is the most recent fragrance in my collection. I bought it for my trip to Vietnam and Thailand at the beginning of 2024. When I first smelt it in duty free, it smelt peppery which was shocking at first. Then after a few minutes, bourbon and leather infiltrated my olfactory system. I felt like I was transported to the Prohibition era trying to stealthily walk into a speakeasy. Lastly, you are captured by this floral woody scent with vanilla. This fragrance makes me smell irresistible in a different way to Good Girl Supreme. It’s an enigma that is exciting and persuades you to tiptoe the line of temptation.
I received a lot of compliments when I wore Givenchy L’Interdit Intense during my trip. There is just something captivating about this fragrance that is bold and addictive. I thought I would reserve it for the evenings. I craved to put on during the day, and that’s exactly what I did. The packaging also alludes to this ode of exploring temptation and hidden desires. I’m tempted to try the others in this collection.
What Is The Longevity and Wear Of These Fragrances?
Have you ever noticed that with some perfumes the scent stays with you all day, and with others it disappears within an hour? With all these fragrances, I’m able to smell them on a coat or a jumper days after I’ve worn them. I wouldn’t call myself a fragrance connoisseur but I do know that it depends on the concentration that you buy. There are three levels: 1) eau de cologne, 2) eau de toilette, and 3) eau de parfum. It depends on what you are looking for.
