The Most Attractive Scents To Buy In Winter

What is more attractive than walking into your living room with cinnamon apple invading your senses? What does winter smell like to you? Is it the scent of mulled wine or cuban dusk reminding you of that winter sun? No matter what seasonal scents are attractive to you in the winter, there are certain ones that will always stand out. Once winter hits, I start to stock up on candles. Winter lasts from November to March latest in Switzerland so I can burn as many as I can. Choosing the right scents matter to me because part of my self-care routine is heightened by the sense of smell. I create new memories through them every day.

Adding scents that are nostalgic to you and newer scents to create new memories in your flat make the day-to-day in winter more special. I started buying candles in 2020 during the peak of COVID and it gave me more time to discover the different kind of scents out there. Similar to choosing to the right fragrances, you have to trust your nose to build your collection. Most candle sellers have sample sizes. Even if they don’t, choose a scent that you know that you already like. Maybe that smell reminds you of your winter holiday or your favourite type of comfort food.

Something that I learnt while choosing my first set of candles was choosing the smells that I was already attractive to. Then I was able to choose different types of candles that played on the tones and notes that were nostalgic. In today’s post, I’ll be sharing the most attractive scents to buy in the winter that will fill your home with warmth, memories, and cosy vibes.

Attractive Scents For Winter

The Scents: Fresh Laundry

Nothing beats the scent of fresh laundry! Am I the only one that loves the smell of taking clean clothes out of the dryer? I don’t know what it is but when everything in my space is freshly clean, it feels therapeutic. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and I can move on with me day. Candles that usually have this smell contain flavours like eucalyptus, lemon, citrus fruits and water lotus.

Cedar Wood

I’m a huge fan of anything woodsy. These smells are typically masculine scents that transport you to the idea of a winter wonderland. I didn’t grow up around the woodlands and yet I have always wanted to have a fireplace in my house as an adult. As I can’t have one in my current flat, candles that represent the scents of firewood always bring up the image of being bundled in a blanket in front of the fireplace. I’m not sure if that is environmentally sound in today’s age, but it might be cost effective in front of an artificial fireplace on the balcony.

Attractive Scents For Winter

Pralines

Pralines are an interesting choice because nuts are not a popular snack. The only nuts that I like eating are sliced almonds, cashews and walnuts. I don’t think I have ever tasted a praline. Yet it is one of the most attractive smells to me in the winter. Pralines reminds me of that rich brown sugar, used in most winter desserts, that resembles a nut-like texture. It’s decadent, arousing and mouthwatering. Candles with tones such as caramelised sugar, butter, vanilla or hazelnut wrap me up in this feeling of sensational luxury. I don’t know how else to describe it.

Sweet Cinnamon

Apple pie, cinnamon rolls, cinnamon soft pretzels. Yum. Cinnamon is one of my favourite seasonings to add to almost anything. It is one scent that I know that I will always love and cherish.

Smooth Musk Scents

Smooth musk reminds me of a 1940s bar after the Prohibition era with a fading scent of cigars burning in the corner and male cologne. Have I ever stepped into a 1940s bar? Never. Yet that is what I believe smooth musk represents. Something that was forbidden for some time and that is why I love lighting any candles with musk in the winter. It feels mysterious, earthy and woodsy at the same time. I find this very comforting in the winter months and that is why it is the one of most attractive scents to have during the colder months.

Wherever you are winter feels longer than it should but that doesn’t mean that you need to succumb to those winter blues. Your self-care routine in the winter matters just as much or even more than the other seasons. Buying candles with scents that are attractive to you will help boost your mood as we prepare to go into the depths of the season. Trust your nose and bring back nostalgic scents that will keep you warm and add some light in these dark months.

Until next time,
