After successfully seeing results with my skincare routine, I decided two years ago that I wanted to see results with my body care routine. As a Nigerian, I was already exfoliating using the African sponge and moisturising my body with shea butter. However, the skin on my body is different to the skin on my face and neck. I have sensitive and combination skin on my face and my neck, whereas the skin on my body is sensitive and dry. I had to go back to the very beginning to figure what my skin concerns were and build from there. Although I’m still discovering what works for me, I know that I love body butters and body oils. Once I had seen reviews about Saltair and their products, I decided to test them out earlier this year.
In my opinion, there are four stages that a body care routine must include: cleanser, exfoliator, body butter/cream and SPF. Everything else that you include in your routine supplements and aids the main products. It is equally important to understand which products work best for you, your skin type and your skin goals. As I mentioned, I have sensitive and dry skin on my body. Over the last couple of years, I have discovered that body oils, shower oils and even body serum help infuse more hydration into my skin and keep it moisturised.
The Saltair products that I used for the first six months of this year focused on the last two stages of my body care routine. Although I have enjoyed using them, there are a few tweaks that I plan to try out this winter to see if it will work better for my skin. Let’s get into the Saltair body care review for more tweaks.
About Saltair: The Brand

A British model, Iskra Lawrence, that champions body positivity and diversity dreamt up her body care brand, Saltair. As she fought her way through recovery and body acceptance, after struggling with body dysmorphia and disordered eating, she began to learn that choosing recovery was choosing freedom. In addition, she chose to let go of all the insecurities that society can place on young women such as having the ideal body or what a successful model should look like, and placed her focus on embracing all the beautiful moments in life. Treating her body as a gift led Iskra to be more intentional about self-care rituals that gave her moments of connection with her body.
In an industry where wellness is exclusive and elitist, Iskra saw a gap. That gap included sustainably packaged products, aesthetics, high performing skincare for the body at an affordable price. Wellness is for everyone and no one should be excluded. That is how Saltair was born. In 2022, the brand was launched with the purpose of bringing more joy to your daily routine by being effortless, elevated and deeply sensorial.
Their Visual Identity
If you take a look at their Instagram page, you can see that they are very uniform and sensorial. Their products, like their name, is linked to the salt of the ocean, sandy beaches, tropical escapes and more. However what makes this brand stand out from your typical beach related body care (i.e. Sol de Janeiro) or skin care brands is that they are not focused on the playful aspect with which you associate. They stand out because they are focused on the invigorating scents and the deep sensorial experiences. These experiences elevate body care into a transportive experience that makes showering or being in the bathroom fade away.
By scrolling through their page, you can see that Iskra has ensured that her championing of body diversity and body positivity is infused into their main target audience. You see women with different skin tones, different body shapes, age and background portrayed on this page. The connection of body care to exercise and nutrition is clearly marked by showcasing fruits, vegetables and collaborations with GoGreek Yogurt. It is one of the first body care brands that I have seen that connects skin health with what you consume. This is what makes Saltair different from the rest. Although they are still a young brand, I can’t wait to see what they have to offer.

Saltair Body Care Review: Golden Hour Multi-Lipid Body Butter

What’s It For?
The Golden Hour Multi-Lipid Body Butter is a skin lipid replenishing body butter containing a ceramide complex, phospholipids, fatty acids and phytosterols to nourish and replenish dry skin.
What’s In It?
Their Golden Hour Body Butter has a few rich ingredients that you would like to see in a body butter including essential skin-rich fats and essential oils that deeply nourish and hydrates the skin. It also contains a variety of ceramides which are imperative during the colder months to continuously replenish the skin barrier and shield it from environmental stressors. Every ingredient in this product has a purpose towards nourishing the skin.
- Ceramide Complex keeps the skin barrier healthy, hydrated and maintains moisture levels.
- Seabuckthorn Oil moisturising and skin protecting abilities that also contain Vitamin E that helps seal in the hydration.
- Phospholipids and phytosterols plant-derived and cellular lipids that restore the skin’s natural balance.
- Fatty acids are emollients that deeply condition, soften rough and flaky areas. They are also the core building block of the skin barrier.
- Glycerin a natural moisturiser that keeps the skin hydrated and replenished.
How Do You Use It?
The Golden Hour Body Butter can be used either during your morning or evening routine. After stepping out of the shower and patting your skin damp, apply your body serum (if applicable) and then add a generous amount to the palms of your hand and gently massage it all over your body.
The Results & My Experience with the Saltair Golden Hour Multi-Lipid Body Butter
I have paired this product with the Naturium Glow Getter Body Oil and the Santal Bloom Body Oil. I feel that this body butter only works well when it is paired with a body oil. When I first tried it on its own, I didn’t find it hydrating and nourishing on my skin at all. I believe it is because this texture and consistency of this product is too thin to be considered as a body butter. All the other body butters that I have used in the past are much thicker and absorbs easily into my skin. In sum, I would say that this has the consistency of a body cream as it is thicker than a body lotion but too thin to be a body butter in my opinion.
However, there are some tweaks that I played around with, to ensure that the product was working for my skin concerns. Instead of applying the body oil after the body butter, I found that mixing a rich body oil such as Arami Essentials Glow Oil or the Naturium Glow Getter with the body butter prior to application worked much better. My skin absorbed the product and I didn’t need to reapply multiple layers for my skin to feel nourished. Moreover, I think applying it this way adds the thickness needed to make it feel like a body butter.
Saltair Body Care Review: Santal Bloom Nourishing Body Oil

What’s It For?
The Santal Bloom Nourishing Body Oil is a replenishing blend of oils including fermented saururus, kukui, cacay, and squalane. The biomimetic blend of plant actives and sea buckthorn oil that absorb easily and leave skin dewy and glowing.
What’s In It?
Their Santal Bloom Body oil is formulated with a blend of emollients and other rich ingredients that you would want to find in a body care product. It also contains squalane which is amazing for smoothing out and moisturising the skin without making it greasy. It does have an enticing fragrance of sandalwood, rose and jasmine. However, it has low concentrations and is not a perfumed body oil that can irritate the skin.
- Safflower Seed Oil nourishes and hydrates the skin.
- Kukui Seed Oil anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties that can be good for keeping acne prone skin moisturised.
- Squalane a natural antioxidant and emollient that helps hydrate, soften, and protect the skin.
- Seabuckthorn Oil moisturising and skin protecting abilities that also contain Vitamin E that helps seal in the hydration.
- Plumeria Flower Extract an antioxidant that helps support the skin’s moisture barrier and protects against photo damage.
How Do You Use It?
After stepping out of the shower with still-damp skin, it can either be applied after your body serum (if applicable) but before a body cream or butter; or the last step of your body care routine.
The Results & My Experience with the Saltair Santal Bloom Nourishing Body Oil
I enjoy using the Santal Bloom Body Oil more than body butter as it is very rich. It keeps my skin moisturised throughout the day. After testing it both as the last step in my routine and after my body serum in the summer months, my skin was still moisturised by the time I came back from the office. I didn’t have to reapply anything on my body unlike its body butter that required reapplication.
In the cooler months, I prefer to mix it with either the Driftwood Body Butter or the Santal Bloom Body Butter for a thicker and rich consistency. However as the former has a thicker consistency, I can use this product on its own instead of mixing it. The only con that I have this product is that the amount in the bottle does not equate for the price. It has 118ml for £25/$33. I wish it was 250ml as it would last me around 2 months. By mixing it with a body butter, it extends the life of the product at home.

How Do You Use It?
After stepping out of the shower with damp skin, massage a generous amount onto body until absorbed to nourish skin. Seal in the moisture with an accompanying body oil.
The Results & My Experience with the Saltair Driftwood Multi-Lipid Body Butter
This is my favourite body butter from Saltair to date. Since testing and trying it since the beginning of this year, I have repurchased it five times. I’ll definitely be stocking up on it during the Black Friday sales for the winter. This is the only product that can be considered as a body butter from Saltair as it has the thickest consistency. I can use it by itself or mixing it with another rich body oil for a thicker consistency.
The fragrance notes of bergamot, sage and driftwood feel so luxurious and infuses with the autumn and winter season. I do not need to reapply this product at all as it leaves my skin extremely nourished. Sometimes I pair it up with its accompanying body oil or other times I use the Arami Essentials glow oil. I love the feeling of running my hands down my thighs hours after applying it and not feeling that sense of dryness.
Saltair Body Care Review: Driftwood Nourishing Body Oil

What’s It For?
The Driftwood Nourishing Body Oil is a lightly fragranced, nourishing body oil that delivers deep, penetrating moisture and helps leave the skin looking and feeling fresh and radiant. The blend of kukui, cacay, squalane, karanja, fermented saururus oil and skin actives helps soothe and provide long-lasting hydration and optimal moisturisation while boosting skin health.
What’s In It?
The Driftwood Body Oil contains a blend of emollients and highly rich ingredients that deliver deep-penetrating hydration and helps strengthen the skin barrier function. In addition, its aim is to infuse the skin with a dewy glow due to the variety of oils in its formulation. Although it has some perfume, the concentration is low so it does not irritate highly sensitive skin,
- Safflower Seed Oil nourishes and hydrates the skin.
- Kukui Seed Oil anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties that can be good for keeping acne prone skin moisturised.

The Results & My Experience with the Saltair Driftwood Nourishing Body Oil
I don’t have a favourite body oil from Saltair as Driftwood version has an amazing experience as the Santal Bloom. However, I do prefer to use this as my body care evening routine. I find that having showers in the evening helps me to fall sleep easier. Having this product as part of my Autumn/Winter evening routine adds that extra step of little luxurious as I get ready for bed. When I wake up in the morning, my skin still feels moisturised and it is not dry. This is perfect as I go to the gym first thing in the morning and I don’t have to reapply anything to my legs.
The driftwood scents is absolutely beautiful and it does not irritate my sensitive skin at all. It’s non-greasy, affordable and feels luxurious. The important thing to note is that you don’t have to wait minutes for your skin to absorb it. I’m able to put on my pyjamas immediately without it transferring.
Saltair Body Care Review: The Final Judgement
My final judgment? All of these products are great if you have dry and sensitive skin as it is formulated with us in mind. It is suitable for all skin types and skin concerns. However, if you are the type of person who doesn’t want to play around and mix products, I would take the Santal Bloom off your wish list.
I think the Driftwood Body Oil and the Santal Bloom Body Oil would benefit:
- People with dry and sensitive skin
- People who are aiming for even and glowing skin
- Those who want a luxurious experience after a shower
I think the Santal Bloom Body Butter would benefit:
- People who prefer body creams and lotions
- People who want a quick and minimalistic routine
- People with sensitive skin
Lastly, the Driftwood Body Butter would benefit:
- People who don’t like fragranced products
- People who are looking for a thick and rich body butter
- People who suffer from extreme dryness in the winter
Would I repurchase these products? Yes with the exception of the Santal Bloom Body Butter. They all come with an experience and get the sensitive skin stamp of approval from me.
This is the latest body care brand that I have tried this year. As the colder months approaching the Driftwood body butter and body oil will be added to my rotation with Naturium.
