Ibiza 2021: The Girl’s Chic Luxury Travel Guide

Summer is just beginning and I know that a majority of us are itching to leave the country and experience an adventure outside of our homes. I’m fully vaccinated now and I am ready to enjoy some freedom. I am so lucky an opportunity became a reality as Covid measures were being relaxed in some parts of Europe.

A week and a half ago, I hopped onto a plane to Ibiza for a long bachelorette weekend. I flew in the night before to meet the rest of the bride tribe, coming from the United States and Canada, at the airport the following morning. After checking out all the Covid measures and precautions, I booked a night stay at the Amare Beach Hotel Ibiza in Sant Josep de sa Talaia.

I have been to Ibiza (2018) before for a wedding but I got to do and explore more on this trip. Here is everything you need to know about the trip. Stay tuned as I’ll have a bonus post coming out on Friday with details on everything that I wore in Ibiza (and yes most of them are from Black Owned Brands).

COVID MEASURES IN IBIZA

A mask is required to enter all indoor and outdoor establishments. If you are entering an indoor restaurant, you have to wear your mask until you are seated at your table and then you are able to take off your mask. However, if you need to walk around the restaurant to go to the bathroom, you need to wear a mask.

The first restaurant I ate at, was outdoors due to the heat. I wore a mask until I was seated at my table. There is a good distance between all the tables so I felt safe and comfortable to enjoy my meals. Even to go to the beach, you must wear a mask until you are seated at your table or on the shore. There are people at the entrance to make sure that you are completely masked up before entering. I felt very safe in Ibiza just like in Switzerland. People were both following and abiding by the rules. At the time of my visit, clubs, discos and hookah bars were still closed.

BEST TIME TO GO TO IBIZA

Midweek is the best time to fly to Ibiza as the flight tickets are cheaper than days closer to the weekend.

The airport and the hotel I stayed at for the first night wasn’t that crowded. Fridays – Mondays are really busy in Ibiza as it is known to be a party island and peak season is between May to October.

Due to several travel restrictions for each country, I was lucky that the crowds were much smaller than pre-covid.

We had to make our dinner reservations early and later in the evenings to avoid crowds. It was really hot during my stay in early July, 30 degrees Celsius. I stayed in a villa with the bride tribe for majority of the trip so all the covid measures and precautions had been checked out. If you are going to stay in a hotel, the rates are much cheaper mid-week than it would have been for the weekend. To get into the heart of Ibiza, it can take 20 to 30 minutes without traffic, so expect to add some more time on the way back.

GETTING TO IBIZA

By plane, it took me 1h 40 minutes to fly to Ibiza. I took an evening early evening flight on a Wednesday. The flight was full which I didn’t expect but most countries had eased restrictions by late June so that’s probably why it was full. I flew back on a Monday afternoon flight and it was a full flight also. I slept most of the way back. If you are trying to avoid crowds and full flights, I would recommend flying earlier in the week and leaving during the week.

WHERE TO STAY

If you want to be close to the city center, the port, restaurants, there are plenty hotels that are within walking distance and also a 20 to 30 minute ride away. Are you travelling by yourself or with a friend? I would recommend staying in a hotel but I’d recommend: Amare Beach Hotel, Oku Ibiza, Hotel Rural Can Jaume & Villas, Gatzara Suites Santa Gertrudis. If you are travelling with a big group, it would be cost effective to rent out a villa and organise car transport for your time there. We stayed at Villa Sargantana for our trip. The villa was beautiful and luxurious. The aesthetics captured me. It was affordable for the number of people that we had. I loved that we were close to the city center and the port even though we needed transportation.

WHERE TO EAT

We ate anywhere and everywhere whilst we were enjoying our time in Ibiza. We did have a private chef for breakfast for two days. Then a private chef for our last dinner in Ibiza hosted by, TemsDelights Event, an events planning company based in Toronto. That dinner is forever embedded in my memory. Here are the details of where we ate:

Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay for some authentic Japanese food with a seafront view. It was a chill dinner for the first night in Ibiza.

O Beach Ibiza for a day club experience by the beach. Their portion sizes were big and we were really hungry. It was greatly appreciated. They had a variety of options which added to the experience.

Kasbah Ibiza for the best seafood pasta and we had an alcohol tasting and making workshop there. One of my favourite activities during the trip.

STK Ibiza for an energetic atmosphere with performances alongside steak, seafood and vibes intertwining an unforgettable dining experience.

WHAT TO DO & SEE IN IBIZA

My favourite thing to do when I visit a new destination is to go on a city tour. We had an 1h 30 minute city tour of Ibiza Old Town. It is a UNESCO Heritage site, we explored the charming old quarter by foot with a local as our guide. You have to see the La Marina neighbourhood. The 14th Century cathedral that overlooks the city from the top of the hill.

Rent out a private yacht and sail to the island of Formentera. It’s a great chill way to hang out with friends, swim in the Mediterranean Sea while drinking some rosé.

Walk along the Marina Botafoch after a night out for drinks. There are a strip of luxury stores nearby.

Go to the beach! There is so much to do in Ibiza. If you don’t plan you could actually miss going to the beach! We went on our first full day there and it was a lot of fun. As we left, we were able to catch the sunset.

That’s it! It was such unforgettable trip and one of the best I have had in years. Stay tuned for Friday’s post with all the outfits that I wore in Ibiza. If you have been/did other activities that I have not mentioned here, please share them below in the comments. I’d love for this post to be a resource for you and others who want to visit Ibiza. I’ve never been to Ibiza, but I love its gorgeous blue sky and the warm waters that are perfect for swimming. Maybe one day I’ll get there, just have to wait for the pandemic crisis to come to en end. Thanks for sharing and have a good day 😀 Aiva
