Why Eating Different Fruits & Vegetables Are Good For Your Body?

You have probably heard people within the health industry say that you should eat the colours of the rainbow. This doesn’t mean Skittles but the candy of the earth – fruits and vegetables. What does that actually mean and why is that beneficial to your health?

It is a simple way of reminding us that these food groups provide us with all the vitamins and minerals that we need. I try to follow the simple rule that I learnt as a child to this day and that is ‘Five fruits and vegetables a day’. The colours of fruits and vegetables tell us a lot about the nutrients that they contain and how the vitamins and minerals are beneficial to us.

The nutrition circle above depicts the types of vitamins and minerals. You can get them in a variety of fruits and vegetables.

I know that some people find it hard to expand outside of their favourite ones. Aim to try a different fruit and vegetable each week as it’s a good way to see if you like other things too.

I have at least one colour of each fruit and vegetable within the wheel a day. It can be something as simple as mixed berries to a tomato. If you are allergic to some of the things on the chart, try something else within that colour range. Eating the colours of the rainbow is beneficial for your internal health, the functioning of your body and your external health.

What are your go-to favourites?

Until next time,
