Bringing another travel post to you as I haven’t trained this week. Training post will be out on Monday 😊 If I didn’t go to my cousin’s wedding, I would have never bought myself a ticket to the Spanish island of Ibiza. I would have definitely missed out on the beauty that it and its surrounding islands have to offer.
Arrival To Ibiza
During the last weekend of August, I hopped onto a Easyjet flight with my Mum and headed to Ibiza. Our first night there didn’t go as planned. We couldn’t get into our AirBnB until 1 am. However, we didn’t let that little incident damper our mood. Whilst waiting, we stopped off at Zebra Steak & Grill for a (late) dinner.
The next two days were wedding related days. In the evening, we had a dinner and drinks at Mambo Ibiza whilst watching the sun turn red. The next day, the wedding had arrived. A beautiful, beach front wedding overlooking the Mediterranean sitting on top of a white sandy cove on the west side of the island. The decor was simple yet elegant, with gold, white and silver as their theme colours. Fortunately, it was a very hot and sunny day so the sun added to the ambiance at the Elixir wedding venue.
The following day, most of the wedding party had returned home but my Mum and I had an extra day in Ibiza and to explore the island Formentera on a bike ride. I had never heard of this island before and it was beautiful. If you ever go to Ibiza, I highly recommend visiting the island. We took a thirty minute ferry across to the island and wanted to have a traditional Spanish dish. Then ate lunch at Restaurante Bellavista and I had mussels as a starter and then we shared a seafood and meat paella as our entrée.
We spent the rest of the day cycling around the island. Dipping our feet into the Mediterranean and enjoying everything that the island had to offer.
After this trip, I realised that I had judged the island of Ibiza as it appears as a party destination which isn’t why I chose locations for my trips. Ibiza has a lot of beautiful sites outside of all the clubs. Their old town is a UNESCO heritage site and if I have a chance to go back again, I would explore it more.
Until next time,
