5 Affordable Ways To Treat Yourself In 2024

I have always loved treating myself. Sometimes I would splurge. Most times, I would make sure that it was affordable and didn’t break the bank. Recently, I have put that on a back burner as I got caught up in other things that required my attention. Now that things are starting to fall into place, I’m making more room to treat myself as I should and as I deserve to be. You should do the same thing too!

Treating yourself shouldn’t only be for special occasions but a regular thing because self-care is an art. You continuously give, work hard and give some more but what is left in your cup? The same way you give to others, you should also give to yourself. Replenish your energy, fill your cup and treat yourself. It doesn’t have to be an all day thing or expensive. With the cost of living increasing and the ongoing energy crisis, we need to be filling our cups sustainably. Today I’ll be sharing five affordable ways to treat yourself in 2024.

Cook Yourself A Special Dinner At Home

Affordable Special Dinner At Home

One of my favourite and easy ways to treat myself is cooking myself a special dinner. Lately, I have had this fascination with eating spaghetti with salmon infused in oyster sauce and vegetables. I have no idea where the idea came from but it excited me. I’m sure you have a recipe saved on your phone or pinned to a Pinterest board that you’ve wanted to try out. Find that recipe. Listen to music as you cook it. Buy the ingredients and create an ambiance with some candles, some wine and watch a movie or TV show. Sometimes, it can be the simple and affordable things that make a difference with replenishing yourself.

Take Yourself On A Solo Date

I’ve been taking myself out on solo dates for years, I don’t really advertise them that much. Taking yourself out on a date is not only an affordable way to treat yourself but also a great way to gain confidence in yourself and discover more about you. If you are afraid of doing things by yourself, start out small. Take yourself to a bookstore, a museum, a day trip to another city. Then slowly build up to bigger things like dinner in your favourite restaurant, cinema trip, a staycation in your city, a solo weekend trip etc. The beauty of dating yourself is that you learn more about what you like and what you don’t like. You get to discover new experiences on your own time and get to do things that you really want to do without catering to others. Self care is an art. Take time to curate your art.

Go On An Affordable Shopping Trip

I know that with the cost of living increasing, you probably don’t want to take yourself shopping. You’d rather cut back on spending and save all the coins you can, right? I completely understand that and would do the same if I was in your shoes. When I say go on an affordable shopping trip, buy things that you actually need or reinvest in certain things such as basic clothing. I don’t know about you but I always lose my socks in the washing machine…I have no idea how they get missing in a space so small. I like to stock up on basics and make myself feel good. Investing in your personal style is an act of self-care and shouldn’t be neglected. You can wait for sales or bulk shop on the timeless items that you need and will serve you well in years to come.

Redecorate Your Space

Redecorate your space in an affordable

There is just something about moving furniture around, adding a throw here and there, adding wall art and house plants to my place that makes me feel good. Redecorating your space doesn’t have to be expensive. Add something personable like family photos or declutter the basement to make more space for something. Having a clear space does something to your mind. It can boost your productivity and help you to live a healthier life both mentally and physically. The festive season is approaching and Autumn is here. Add a few things that brings that sense of warmth that this season brings into your space.

Do Some Stretches & Go For A Walk

Raise your hand if you are guilty of stretching after your workout? This is a safe space and free of judgement. It happens to the best of us, myself included. Autumn is the perfect time to start stretching if you don’t do it already. Schedule 5 to 10 minutes before bed to stretch. That relaxed feeling after you stretch is unbeatable. You are going to feel great, sleep better and reduce any tightness in your body. I know that most of us are sitting down by desk with little to no movement. The lack of movement will hurt us more in the long run. Try to go outside and enjoy the crisp weather during your lunch break. Schedule more small breaks during your work day to get some movement in. It can be as simple as going to check the postbox or walking up or down the stairs. Remember that any movement is good movement.

There you have it! 5 affordable ways you can treat yourself in 2024. In time where things are slightly chaotic, it’s nice to do something for yourself. As I said and will continuously say, self-care is an art. Taking care of yourself is an art and deserves the time to be curated for you by you. If you have any other affordable ways that you treat yourself that I haven’t thought, drop it in the comments below. You’ll never know who else you’ll be inspiring!
