Training for my First Powerlifting Meet: 5 Weeks Out

The reason that this post is late is because I found out a5 5 weeks out that I had been put on the waitlist for the meet I wanted to compete in. I’m not going to lie and say that I was upset about it because that was an understatement. I was distraught for the first hour and then something just hit me. A sense of clarity and an aura of peace.

As much as I wanted to be in the meet, I didn’t want someone to drop out and/or send ill-wishes to another person. We all deserve to lift, to compete considering that each person that signed up for the meet poured their heart and soul into their training, their nutrition protocols. Each person sacrificed something to reach this point.

A Moment Of Clarity at Week 5

My moment of clarity made me look at being on the wait-list from a different perspective. If I got in, that’s great because I can show my strength on the platform. If I didn’t get in, that’s great too because there will always be another platform. Another meet that I can participate in on another day. It means that I can continue with working on myself and increasing my strength. I have waited nearly six years to compete, an another few months of waiting wasn’t going to stop me.

Pep Talk

You don’t need a deadline to push you to train or to motivate you. The motivation, the discipline to manifest greatness, to keep on digging deeper comes from within. The thrill of chasing strength and being the best that you can be should be a consistent and daily practice without a deadline.

P.S. I found out last night that I will be competing in 3 weeks time!
