What Is Blogmas & How To Make It Work

Clearly, December is a walk in the park. I’m not entirely sure what has compelled me to take on this challenge but I am doing it. What am I talking about? I’m talking about blogmas. I have decided to take on the challenge of doing blogmas this year. You’re probably thinking that’s not so bad, 25 posts in the month of December. Hold that thought. Not only am I doing blogmas but I’ll also be doing reelmas for Instagram, as my love for content creation started with these two platforms. How did I come to this decision? Let’s do a deep dive into that.

YouTubers & Vlogmas

I love watching YouTube. Even though I don’t have as much time to watch it on a regular basis, I always tune in for vlogmas. Vlogmas is a combination of vlogging (video blogging) and Christmas, hence the name. YouTubers would create a video a day from December 1st to December 25th sharing Christmas themed videos and things happening in December in their lives. Vlogmas has exploded over the last decade and has made its way into the blogging world.

It is a challenging and interesting experience to come up with the topics, the planning, the editing etc. I think that’s what makes it exciting because it’s a challenge that pushes you creatively.

What Is Blogmas

Prepping for blogmas

Blogmas follows the same vein as vlogmas except it is written content with slightly different rules. Take it as a written advent calendar leading up to Christmas. As writer’s block is a thing and I have experienced it multiple times this year, there are three different challenges that can be done in December. The first one is 12 days of blogmas which means posting 12 blog posts throughout the month of December, 25 days of blogmas and 31 days of blogmas.

I opted for 25 days of blog posts because I really want to get back into posting one or two blog posts a week like I did in 2021. This challenge will help me warm up for the new year and focus on showing up again. It’s also an opportunity for you to get to know me on a more personal level and for me to be more vulnerable with you. Blogmas will also help me to stick to a content plan and schedule so I don’t miss out on interacting with you, my readers. So here I am. Promising the hundreds of you that are subscribed to this blog that I am going to make this challenge happen no matter what. 25 blog posts in 25 days? Challenge accepted.

What To Expect

In order to make this work, I had to commit to the challenge. I knew that telling myself that I was going to do this wasn’t enough. This is why this intro blog post into what blogmas is and why I have chosen to do is necessary. You, my fellow readers, are going to keep me accountable.

Christmas themed content for blogmas

I’m taking advantage of this month! Expect to see posts on my usual topics: powerlifting, health and wellness, mindset and style but with Christmas themed content sprinkled in every other day. Some of my usual topics will have a Christmas theme and others will not. I want this to be a fun experience for all of us by doing things that are related to Christmas and to get us into the holiday spirit, whatever that may look like for you.

I have already been planning my posts and my content calendar is ready for this month. Get ready to receive a daily notification from me with more of the things that you like and a medium scoop of Christmas. I hope that you enjoy the experience that I’m sharing with you this month.
