Tips To Empower Your Day with 5 Non-Negotiables

Starting my mornings with 5 daily non-negotiables has helped me have a positive outlook on my day. Choosing to empower your day with what makes you feel good and what helps you make time for yourself looks different to everyone. I’m a morning person. I do my best work in the mornings. You may be a night owl and do your best work in the evenings. Whether you are a morning person or an evening person, try to empower your day with 5 non-negotiables. You may not feel like doing it, but you will thank yourself in the future for showing up.

Building A Morning Routine

If you aren’t a morning person and want to become one, figure out why you want to wake up early. Maybe you want to get a workout in early, watch the sunrise or enjoy some alone time before the world wakes up. Your ‘why’ will help motivate you.

A successful morning routine starts the night before. Develop an evening routine that preps you for bed. One of my non-negotiables is to tidy my space before bed and this is not an easy feat when I am tired. What empowers me to get this done is knowing that everything is in its rightful place. Then, I can wake up the next morning and go about my day in peace.

Empower Yourself Through Journaling & Devotionals

Journaling and daily devotionals are a pause in your day to focus on you. I like to give myself between 10-15 minutes before I log into work to pray and praise God. Then I like to reflect on what I want to achieve for the day and prep my to-do list. Some people like to write all their thoughts out in a journal, I like to speak mine out aloud. Do whatever works for you but make time to empower yourself and your mind.

Gratitude. I cannot stress how important it is to be grateful for the life that you live. You may not be where you want to be in life, but gratitude can help you overcome some difficult emotions. Learn to write down in a journal or create a jar of gratitude. List three things that you appreciate in your life. It can be something simple as being surrounded by nature, having access to food and clean water.

When you take the time to appreciate how kind life is being to you, you will attract more positive experiences, joy and it will empower you to have an abundant mindset.

Get A Workout In

My purpose of waking up early in the mornings is to make time for myself before the rest of the world wakes up and demands my attention. I have a four hour gap before my workday begins and I like to use that time to get in my powerlifting training. The gyms are not as packed during that time. I can get in, train and get out. A workout benefits both your body and your mind. You are improving your health internally and externally. As we spend so much of our time sitting down, getting some movement can make a difference.

Self Care Moments

My morning self care moments includes my skincare and developing body care routines. There is just something about spending time taking care of my skin that does it for me. It gives me a boost of confidence having glowing skin, skincare can empower me to learn more about skin foods. It is an expression of individuality and know what products make me feel my best.

I’ve been developing a body care routine these last three months. That has been fun. I’m trying new products, documenting how they make me and my skin feel. I have highly sensitive skin and I’ve been fortunate that the products and rituals that I have been experimenting with, have not had a negative effect.

Eat & Drink Something Nourishing

My go-to beverage of choice in the mornings is water. Once I drink a glass of water, I feel alert. Hydrated and ready to seize my day. When it comes to food, I stick to the foods that nourish me and give me energy to tackle the day. I start my day with a workout so making sure that I have energy to train as well as food to help me recover after my workout is equally important. Even on the days that I don’t workout, having energy is something that I don’t take for granted.
