The Top 5 Gym Winter Essentials That You Need

I don’t know about you but this temperature drop to sub-zero degrees, I’m not feeling it. The temperature just dropped with no warning and I’m already bundled up with multiple layers. I’ve already had to take out my snow boots too! When we prepare ourselves for the season by buying winter essentials, we only think about upgrading our current wardrobe. What about out gym winter essentials? Those are important too! Not everyone is able to drive to the gym or take public transport, some people, like me, have to brave the storm and walk to the gym. If you find it difficult to get out of bed in the winter and go to the gym, maybe you need to upgrade your gym clothes for the season.

Don’t let the snowfall or the cold weather stop you from training in the winter. If anything, winter is the best time to push through with your gym routines. How do you dress for the gym in the winter? That’s a good question and here are my top 5 gym winter essentials that every woman needs in their wardrobes.

Gym winter essentials - long sleeved tops and leggings

Sweat-proof gym leggings

Sweat-proof leggings is the number one gym winter essential that you need in your wardrobe. You may be an avid shorts to the gym person but having a good stock of leggings will serve you well. One of my favourite tips to buy leggings periodically throughout the year is to buy matching sets. When you buy your sports bra with the matching shorts, add the leggings to the cart too. Most gym brands sell sweat-proof gym leggings and some of my favourites are Buffbunny, Aybl, DamiHow, and Women’s Best.

Puffer Jacket & Fleeces

Puffer jackets and fleeces are something that I just got into recently and I have no idea where they have been all my life. If you walk to the gym, wear the fleece underneath the puffer jacket and you will feel toasty. I recommend getting the short puffer and the long puffer especially if you tend to get colder on your bottom half. You can also wear the fleece as you’re warming up and off it once you start your training session.

Long sleeved crop tops

Whoever came up with the concept of long sleeved crop tops deserves infinite blessings for life! I love wearing crop tops to the gym because I don’t like getting too hot in the gym. Unfortunately in the winter, they are not practical. Long-sleeved crop tops is the best of both worlds. It will keep your top half and arms warm, but also gives you some comfort with a gap for air.

Gym winter essentials - socks

Upgraded Sweats as Winter Essentials

This one is self-explanatory. It’s cold outside. If you want to wear your gym clothes to the gym and don’t want to feel too hot, sweats are your best friend. I love to throw sweats over my shorts and sports bra and a puffer to top it off as I make my way to the gym. All gym brands sell a couple of sweats options so make sure to pick up a set or two.

Winter Essentials: Moisture-wick socks

Socks are usually forgotten when it comes to gym winter essentials, but the type of socks that you wear can make or break it for you. If you wear regular socks to the gym, invest in a bunch of gym socks. Gym socks are moisture-wick in nature and you are not going to have sweaty feet that feel uncomfortable during your training session. My favourite brand of socks for the gym are these tech socks.
