Thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself!
Hi fit friends! I’m Folakemi or Folakemi Olamide as I go by on social media. I am 26 years old, currently working with a publishing company in Switzerland.
I started this blog to share the knowledge and lessons that I have learnt during my fitness journey in the last four and a half years. These are some of the things that I wish I had learnt earlier on as it would have made a huge difference then. Trial and error, right? Also, I’ll be sharing my life outside of fitness such as my travelling and food adventures.
As a child, I had always been an athlete and played on sport teams ranging from netball (British sport), swimming, football, rugby, badminton, squash, tennis, gymnastics and volleyball. At the end of my freshman year in college, I decided to take my fitness to the next level by training over the summer so I could make it into the Club Volleyball team for my sophomore year. Eventually, Club Volleyball did not happen and I found my way into lifting in January 2013. Since that day, I never looked back.
I used to document every step of my fitness journey on my Tumblr account (which no longer exists) before I turned to Instagram. Instagram ended up being a huge platform for me to share my inner thoughts, my struggles, my journey of self-growth, overall wellness and fitness.
These last six years have been a rollercoaster of transformations in more ways than one. Not only have I been able to transform my body, but I have also been able to transform my mindset, grow into myself, overcome my low self-esteem and confidence issues. In the process, I moved to different continents, I switched majors, I developed new interests, worked in various industries, switched fields of disciplines from my BA to MA. These transformations have taught me that drive and passion can take you anywhere.

Amongst all the incredible opportunities that I have experienced in my life, my 25th year of life shaped it all. 2018 was a year of blessings for me. It was a year of mental growth more than physical, and with all the tests I encountered, I gained mental strength. I decided to take my life into my hands and create something beautiful and meaningful. The highlight of that creation was competing in my first powerlifting meet in November 2018.
I want this platform to be a source of knowledge for you in more ways than one. I want to share the tools that you need to be independent in your fitness journey. I want you to learn that you should never sacrifice your lifestyle for fitness. It should be able to fit into your lifestyle and not the other way round. I want to help you find a sustainable way to balance your health and overall well-being.
